                                                                             VICTORY TOYOTA-SCION LEEDS THE WAY IN RENOVATION AND INOVATION 

First LEED Certified Auto Complex in Seaside Breaks Ground May 4th


May 2, 2012 – SEASIDE, CA– Peter Blackstock, owner of Victory Toyota-Scion in the Seaside Auto Center, is proud to announce the groundbreaking event of the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified automotive sales and service complex to be built in Seaside. Continuing the trend for innovative, environmentally friendly, customer and employee sensitive aesthetics and facilities which Blackstock started with the building of Lexus Monterey Peninsula, the 33,750 square foot auto complex will be based upon Toyota’s new IMAGE USAII design campaign.

            This incredibly innovative complex will feature 18,570 square feet of customer contact points such as the showroom, service drive/write-up areas, sales administration, retail boutique, customer lounge, internet café and the new vehicle delivery center.  Constructed of steel frame and wrapped with metallic aluminum composite material (ACM) panels, the facility will feature Toyota’s signature opaque white glass portal.

            “We recently made a substantial investment in the purchase of the dealership property immediately north of our current store to ensure uninterrupted business operations for existing and new customers as we lead the way in innovation, design and customer service for our new LEED certified complex,” said Peter Blackstock, owner of Victory Toyota. “We are committed to giving the citizens of Seaside an auto complex that will not only enhance the aesthetics of the community but will respect the environment as well. It was due to the foresight of the city by the expansive renovation of the Seaside Auto Center that created the opportunity for this investment.”

            According to the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED® certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.<?xml:namespace prefix = o />

            To wit, the new Victory Toyota Dealership facility will feature a south facing building to maximize interior shading during summer months and maximize heat and natural daylight infiltration in winter; reuse of existing site materials; a porous landscape and hardscape materials at the main building plaza and vehicle display areas to minimize soil erosion maximizing sedimentation control and minimizing storm water run-off from infiltrating the ocean eco system; a water reclamation system for the car wash which dramatically reduces water consumption.

            “The ‘Green’ philosophy of the project doesn’t stop with the design and construction,” said Blackstock. “The ownership and management are creating awareness for a ‘Green’ culture with initiatives that will involve our associates and customers for the betterment of Seaside. Being ‘Green’ at Victory Toyota isn’t just a buzzword but will be a way of living that drives the culture to look for more ways to be innovative and environmentally friendly in our use of materials and operating methods.

            Victory Toyota has been on the Monterey Peninsula since 1965 and moved to its current Location at 5 Heitzinger Place in the Seaside Auto Center in 1979. Groundbreaking Ceremony will take Place May 4th at 11am.
